This is a husband and wife team that combine a wide range of differing skills and experience that enables us to tackle almost anything.
The Consultancy was established in December 1996 and has quickly established a reputation for “getting the job done” (achieving results).
Graham Thomas
Graham has a background of nearly 30 years of Government (Ministry of Works) and Local Authority (Waimea County Council and Tasman District Council) background in engineering and planning prior to establishing this Consultancy.
His engineering background involved all forms of civil and structural works (roads, sewerage, water, bridges etc) so he has been able to relate that across to the practicalities of designing efficient and effective developments.
His planning role at Tasman District Council involved responsibility for assessment and approvals (or declining) of subdivisions. Added to that is his experience in the design and construction of numerous dwellings. So all in all he provides a wide range of experience with knowledge of the relationship and impact that each phase of development has upon the other phases.
Graham was fortunate in 1999 to start providing advice to local Iwi and their associated commercial entities. He has been advising local iwi on a regular basis since that date.
Through that position Graham has been fortunate to be exposed to Māori culture in a way that the general public is not. He has, as a result of that, assisted in representing the first Iwi Resource Management Komiti and the membership Iwi in dealings with Tasman District Council, Nelson City Council and the Environment Court on numerous issues.
In 1998 Graham obtained the qualification of a LEADR Mediator.
Graham has also obtained the qualification of Qualified Commissioner enabling him to sit on Council Resource Consent Hearings if appointed.
Sue Thomas
Sue has a long and vast experience in office administration, ranging from typing, filing systems management through to accounts. That background has been built upon with training and qualifications in computers providing up to date administration and management skills.
Sue basically runs the Consultancy leaving Graham to focus on the core business – providing he does as he is told!!!
